Bridging the Gap - Must Read ABW Report

Hot off the presses this afternoon, Bridging the Gaps in Bicycling Networks: An advocate's guide to getting bikes on bridges is your first step in securing these critical links within your community's transportation network. Click here to download your copy.
"Bicyclists and pedestrians need bridges at least as much as any other road users and advocates are increasingly making progress with transportation agencies," writes Darren Flusche, lead author of the report and policy analyst for the League of American Bicyclists. "This report identifies some of the common objections to bridge accommodations for biking and walking and offers suggestions on how to answer them. It also contains recommendations based on the experience of several successful and ongoing advocacy campaigns."

The
Bridging the Gaps report is aimed at making your job easier. It brings together all the relevant statistics, policy statements and federal statutes you need, so you'll be ready to discuss this important issue with your local and state officials. It includes key insights and engaging anecdotes from advocates who have won major victories in their communities, giving you on-the-ground models and lessons learned. Care to exchange ideas with some of those winning advocates? Want to address your questions directly to Advocacy Advance staff? We thought you might. So we've scheduled a Mutual Aid Call — "Learn from the Bridge Access Report." To make sure you have enough time to dig into the report, we've rescheduled it for next week. So please join us on Wednesday, December 15th, at 3 p.m. EST. Click here to register.

Read the report and register for the call so you'll be ready to bridge the gaps in your community! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks, Jeremy Grandstaff, Member Services Director
