Previously, there was a post on September 25 on the list of the top 20 walking cities in the US, none of which was located within the state. A list of the top 40 cities is available now at walkscore.com, based on a walk score. Also listed are neighborhoods in each of the cities listed, since the walkability of a city can vary greatly from neighborhood to neighborhood. The cities in the state that made the list are
Memphis, at #35 and
Nashville, at #39.
Memphis neighborhoods that are best are Midtown, Downtown, and East Memphis-Colonial-Yorkshire. Nashville's best neighborhoods are East End, Edgehill, and Bellmont Hillsboro.
The complete list of cities is available here. clicking on each listed city will give a detailed list of where in the city walking conditions are best and worst.
